About Alloy
Incoloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy renowned for its exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including those containing chloride ions, sulfuric acid, and phosphoric acid. It's particularly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, making it ideal for applications in harsh conditions like seawater, acidic or alkaline solutions, and high-temperature water.
The alloy's composition typically includes around 42% nickel, 21% chromium, and 31% iron, with additions of molybdenum (Mo) and copper (Cu) to enhance its corrosion resistance. The presence of molybdenum significantly improves its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while copper contributes to its overall strength and ductility.
Incoloy 825 is also known for its good weldability, allowing it to be easily joined using various welding techniques. This makes it a versatile material for applications requiring fabrication and repair.
Beyond its use in chemical processing, power generation, and oil and gas production, Incoloy 825 finds applications in various industries, including aerospace, marine engineering, and the manufacture of heat exchangers, valves, and pumps.
