About Alloy
Hastelloy B3 (UNS N10675) is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with significant resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. It also offers excellent resistance to other acids such as sulfuric, acetic, and phosphoric acids, as well as resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Hastelloy B3 is an improved version of Hastelloy B2, with enhanced thermal stability and resistance to stress corrosion cracking in the presence of reducing media.
The alloy’s high molybdenum content provides exceptional resistance to corrosion, while its low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, ensuring the material’s corrosion resistance in the welded condition. Hastelloy B3 is often used in chemical processing, pollution control, and oil and gas industries, where it is exposed to aggressive chemical environments.
In addition to its corrosion resistance, Hastelloy B3 offers good fabricability and is readily formed, welded, and machined. Its versatility and reliability make it a popular choice for applications requiring resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments.
Overall, Hastelloy B3 is a high-performance alloy that provides exceptional resistance to corrosion and stress-related issues, making it suitable for a variety of demanding industrial applications. Its ability to withstand aggressive chemical environments, combined with its excellent fabricability, makes it a valuable material in industries where corrosion resistance is critical.
